When Quest was established, accommodation options for travellers were largely limited to hotels and motels. For business travellers, this often meant working, sleeping, and eating in the same, cramped space. Families and groups faced additional challenges, as multiple rooms were required to accommodate everyone.
Quest Apartment Hotels were created to provide a better alternative — spacious, convenient, and flexible accommodation for both short and extended stays.
1988: Paul Constantinou identified a niche in Australia for quality serviced apartments tailored to corporate travellers. The first Quest property opened in North Fitzroy, Melbourne.
1991: Stephen Mansfield joined as Managing Director, bringing extensive experience in the accommodation sector. Together, Paul and Stephen grew Quest into Australia’s market-leading apartment hotel brand.
1998: Anticipating growth in New Zealand, Stephen Mansfield moved to NZ and secured the Master Franchisor rights for Quest in New Zealand and Fiji.
2023: Quest Apartment Hotels NZ & Fiji further strengthened its position by joining The Ascott Group Limited, solidifying its leadership in the region.
